Seth Rogen and Ray Liotta had to square off sooner or later, so why not have these titans of tough clash in Jody Hill’s Observe and Report?

As reported earlier, Rogen is set to star as a delusional mall security chief who gets into a jurisdictional pissing match with the local law enforcement. I haven’t tracked down Hill’s screenplay just yet, so I don’t know what kind of criminal activity prompts the squabble, but I am madly in love with the idea of Liotta playing the detective who goes head-to-head with Rogen (especially after suggesting that Jason Segel study the master of unhinged for his next role – I’m so stupidly prescient!). Basically, I see no reason Liotta shouldn’t be cast in every movie heading into production, save for the fact that it’d be exhausting and humanly impossible. Bah! Liotta pisses on “exhausting and humanly impossible”.

The rest of Observe and Report‘s cast is looking pretty inspired, too. Anna Faris has been signed to play a mall employee with whom Rogen is obsessed, Michael Pena is on board as Rogen’s second-in-command, and Friday Night Lights‘ Jesse Plemons (aka Landry) will appear as a lower-level security guard. The film, which is Hill’s follow-up to The Foot Fist Way (out May 30th!), begins production this week.
