24 Frames of the LA Times reports that uberproducer, John Davis, (Predator, I, Robot) has optioned the rights to Ray Bradbury’s The Martian Chronicles. The series of interconnected stories from the sci-fi icon revolve around the adventures of a group of humans weho colonize Mars after a cataclysm on Earth. The book was published in 1950.
The Martian Chronicles was previously adapted into a 1980 miniseries starring Rock Hudson, Darren McGavin, Bernadette Peters, Roddy McDowall, Barry Morse, and Maria Schell. Bradbury reportedly found that version “just boring.”
A quick check of Davis’ IMDB page reveals a plethora of films in various stages of development or production. His most recent film is Marmaduke, and his next film is Predators, due on July 9th.
