Could Bong Joon-ho, director of the incredible The Host, and J.J. Abrams, Star Trekker and producer extraordinaire, be teaming up to bring Joon-ho’s next film to America?
The gents who call /Film home seem to believe it’s a possibility, with a source claiming that Abrams has hopped over the pacific to meet with Joon-ho in Korea. While it’s unlikely we’ll be getting a VS film starring the beasts from Cloverfield and The Host, we could be getting Joon-ho’s first film shot in America, and one produced with Abrams’ resources.
Without much more specificity to the story than that, it leaves a lot of open room for imagining what the two could be cooking up. Will it simply be a Joon-ho film backed by Abrams? Some kind of marriage of their sensibilities? Monsters?
