Is This The Best Animated Trailer Ever? HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2 Teaser Soars…

Nothing pleases me more than a trailer that simply sells a single scene from a movie, especially when the scene is good and does all the work a trailer would ever need to do. That’s how to train your dragon 2the case with this teaser for How To Train Your Dragon 2, and I truly can’t think of a better example. I’m immediately reminded of great the first film is, eagerly want to see the new one, and even want to get to a big 3D screen to see this trailer again right away!

This captures a perfect escalation of a relationship, new fun visual tricks, familiar jokes… this is really really smartly done stuff.

Hiccup and everyone’s favorite cat-dragon will be back on screen June 20th, 2014 (a date that just crushed me- I didn’t know if this was this year or next until I looked it up). There will be both familiar and new voices to look forward to with Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, T.J. Miller, Kristen Wiig, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse all set.

Oh, and they’re declaring it a trilogy- hadn’t caught on to that yet…

The thrilling second chapter of the epic How To train Your Dragon trilogy brings back the world Hiccup (Baruchel) and Toothless five years later. While Astrid (ferrera), Snoutlout (Hill) and the rest of the gang are challenging each other to dragon races (the island’s new favorite contact sport), the now inseparable pair journey through the skies, charting unmapped territories and exploring new worlds. When one of their adventures leads to the discovery of a secret ice cave that is home to hundreds of new wild dragons and the mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of a battle to protect the peace. Hiccup and Toothless will lead hundreds of hero dragons in defense of Dragon Mountain, battling against Drago Bloodfist’s huge army of Dragon Hunters and their ruthless war machines.
