Last week, The Playlist noticed, way at the bottom of a Variety article, a seemingly throwaway line that mentioned Jason Schwartzman would be starring in Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Shortly after that, the mention was removed. I didn’t report on it at the time because multiple sources said that Wright had indeed always wanted Schwartzman to appear as Gideon, the most significant of Ramona Flowers’ evil exes, but that no deal had yet been signed. Variety, it seems, fucked up and jumped the gun.

But the latest photoblog from Wright shows someone that is pretty clearly Schwartzman — that eyebrow is unmistakable. The standard mode for the photoblogs (like yesterday’s image of Chris Evans as Lucas Lee) has been to have the actor holding a drawing of their character. Instead we get a question mark. Is that in fact Schwartzman (who else could it be?) and if so who else would be play, but Gideon?
