Robert Downey, Jr. has been out getting some publicity done for The Soloist before Iron Man 2 starts shooting on Monday, which means there have been a few opportunities for outlets to get in some questions about the return of Tony Stark.
Downey, like everyone else, isn’t giving much away. But he did tell Entertainment Tonight that the second movie would basically be more, more more! (He’s said this before, to MTV and other places, but still.)
“The film is almost entirely about character, and yet we still have twice as much action as we did last time, so it’s going to be nuts,” said Downey. “Essentially ‘Iron Man 2’ is about looking behind the armor, or the armature, of a superhero. It’s one thing to say you’re Iron Man, it’s another thing to be fully ready to do that.”
Which goes along with what we’ve known would happen — that the script would deal, in ways that potentially differ from the norm, with the reality (that being a relative term, within the world of hero movies) of being a publicly recognized superhero.
Meanwhile, director Jon Favreau has been issuing occasional updates on the film via Twitter, where he’s shared photos of sets in various stages of construction and expressed anxiety over the responsibility of directing a massively-budgeted project.
