csA couple of years ago I interviewed Benecio Del Toro and he ended up telling me about the time he met Lou Reed. It turns out that all Lou wanted to talk about was The Hunted; it’s like his favorite movie.

Now that we’ve established his cinematic bona fides, let’s talk about Factory Girl, the film about Andy Warhol’s muse Edie Sedgewick, which has Lou all up in arms. Says Reed, who was obviously in with that crowd in his Velvet Underground days, "I read that script. It’s one of the most disgusting, foul things I’ve seen – by any illiterate retard – in a long time. There’s no limit to how low some people will go to write something to make money.” Of course I have a hard time believing that Lou remembers much from the smack-soaked late 60s.

Despite Lou’s anger at the film, the Weinstein Co (I guess they’re sticking with that name) has bought it. The film is currently in production, with Sienna Miller making one last grab at being known as something other than the woman Jude Law cheated on by playing Edie. Guy Pearce is playing Andy Warhol, and Jimmy Fallon is in it as well, most likely being completely fucking annoying. Maybe he’s playing Lou Reed, which is what got the guy so upset in the first place.
