X-Men 3 may indeed be the last movie featuring Professor Chuck’s student collective (until the inevitable Homo Superior solo movies, anyway), so it seems like the filmmakers are intent on cramming as many mutants from Marvel’s past pages into the potentially final film. Even that crappy pheromone prostitute.

We just heard that telepathic assassin Psylocke (whose psychic blade is the focused totality of her mutant powers, as comic scribe Chris Claremont would remind us every single time she used it) is part of the third movie’s extensive dramatis personae, and now the rotund villain known as the Blob may be amongst the mutie masses as well. According to CanMag, FX team Spectral Motion (who worked on Hellboy, among others) has constructed the fat suit for the chubby baddie, who has the mutant power of morbid obesity.

CanMag has pics of what is purportedly the in-progress costume, and says that one of the scenes from the trailer (the bit with the crushed car) will feature a digitized version of Blob once post-production is finished. They also state that the character could actually be Phat, a young mutant introduced in the pages of the recently revamped (and since canceled) X-Force/X-Statix who had the ability to become extra-fleshy as necessary. Either way, it looks like X3 is going to be blissful for cameo-seeking comic geeks.
