Fans of Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, rejoice! New Line has just thrown up an extremely ribald red-band (i.e. R-rated) trailer for Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay! As for everyone else… I actually recommend that you give it a watch. ‘Cuz when you see The Pineapple Express next August, you’ll have a true appreciation for how difficult it is to pull off a decent stoner comedy.
As always, the "comedy is subjective" caveat applies, so don’t take it personally if you’re howling as airplane passengers mistake Kumar’s "bong" for a "bomb" while I shake my head in disbelief that some humor-impaired jackass could possibly find such a situation amusing or clever. And while I’m not insulting people, here’s a word of advice for Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg: you can make fun of EuroTrip all you want, but, last I checked, you didn’t have several seasons of Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm on your resume. Alec Berg, Jeff Schaffer and David Mandel, on the other hand, do. Remember that the next time you take a swipe at people who are funnier and more talented than you’ll ever be.
But kudos for casting Rob Corddry as a government stooge. I hope you let him improv.
