I generally have little to no problem with Kristen Bell feeling the need to take of any particular element of her clothing. As a rule. And there might be some of that action going down as she is set to have a strip-off against Christina Aguilera in Burlesque, announced by THR.com today. As described, Burlesque centers on the journey of an ambitious small-town girl
(Aguilera) with a big-town voice who finds love and success in a
Los Angeles neo-burlesque club, reminiscent of the nightclub in Bob
Fosse’s “Cabaret.” (Aguilera has guested in cabarets for the
Pussycat Dolls.) Bell will play Nikki, the loose-cannon lead dancer and main
attraction at the club who spirals out of control when Aguilera’s
character suddenly gets the spotlight. Already cast are Cher as the nightclub owner and Stanley Tucci as
the man who helps turn Aguilera from bumpkin to bombshell. As long as no scene involves Sonny’s ex and stripping, I’m perfectly fine with that.
Bell’s post-Veronica Mars career seems to be moving apace as she currently has Couples Retreat in theatres, is the voice of Gossip Girl and also lends her pipes to the upcoming Astro Boy. She also has Disney double-billing of When In Rome and You Again with Sigourney Weaver in the pipeline. Aguilera will be making her debut in Burlesque. Considering her potential wardrobe for the role, and referencing the photo above, I have no doubt that Bell aced the screen test.
