The Beaver was once a hotly contested script that many a star and comedian was attached to. The title was always worthy of a late night comedy skit.  But now the whole package is a massive headache thanks to its troubled leading man.

Sure, many cinephiles take the high ground.of Art over Gossip.  We see films because they interest us, not because so-and-so is a drug addict. But just as many enforce their distaste by refusing to purchase a ticket. Neither side is right. Neither is wrong.  But it’s a battle that’s undoubtedly going to play out big time for The Beaver, particularly since the film deals with a man on the verge of a mental breakdown.

Projecting? Maybe. Anyway, Summit Entertainment has sent us the official synopsis and the first still from the film. We’ve already seen Gibson and the beaver, courtesy of prep-production photos and poster on the right. But we’ve never seen Foster and … oh man, I’m not going to even say it because even stated in a straightforward manner it sounds dirty.

Anyway. Your first official look at The Beaver.  The trailer premieres tomorrow, so we’ll have more to talk about then.
