First of all allow me to once again mention that I love the daylights out of Ang Lee’s Hulk. Call me a sucker for green gentlemen who punch giant dog balls if you must [actually call me on the CHUD Podcast Voice Mail Line at 1-678-827-0940] but I stand by the choice. Despite the vacuum of emotional resonance and the presence of Sky Nolte, it’s a wonderfully rendered Comic Book Movie in every sense of the word and I don’t remember the comic ever offering much emotional resonance either.

And Doc Sampson’s a friggin’ Mary.

The upcoming potential masterpiece/trainwreck sequel/reimagining from Louis Leterrier just added a lovely character actor [and director of Eye of God], Tim Blake Nelson to portray of all people, The Leader. For those who remember, he’s the green guy with Psionic Gamma Ray Brainpower who is the Hulk’s biggest villain this side of the Abomination. The Abomination is his biggest villain this side of Avi Arad. That’s really good casting, though I hope they don’t craft him some lame dome appliance that reeks of the 70’s. In fact, I’d love it if they had the whole top of his head blow clean off, the result of too…much…knowledge. Then we can have a really creepy villain whose brain keeps pulsing and mutating and healing itself with cranial acrobatics.

Actually it’d be funny if, after the accident the villain had to subsist on Wheat Thins and Sudoku puzzles.

Either way, expect the ample box office prowess of Tim Blake Nelson to marry with the already luscious cast in a way not unlike the aus jus snuggling up to a steak from Ruth’s Chris.
