Peep the image above for your first look at Ti West’s new feature film, The Sacrament. The Eli Roth co-production shot down in my old stomping grounds of Savannah, where there are marshes, fields, and woods aplenty amidst which horror can take place. It will be interesting watching West’s horror film take place in some of the same place as the dozens and dozens of student horror films I watched over my four years down there. Since it was shot on a Canon C300, it might not look all that different either.

In any event, I don’t know what’s up with the swirling motion blur, what this guy is running from, or where that helicopter might be going, but I’m intrigued. It’s always a little ballsy to go with a daylight horror still! I’m still on the fence about West as a horror director since I haven’t seen what is considered his best work, The Innkeepers, and everything else I’ve seen has ranged from dull to outright embarassing (I’m looking at you, letter M).

To me this looks like spirits from Evil Dead decided to interrupt this guy’s Malick-esque stroll through a field, but we’ll find out more as we get closer to the film announcing a release date.
