Remember when Ender’s Game was one of those big sci-fi adaptations we all were expecting/waiting for? It’s still out there in the ether, except now it’s taking form and clustering actors for its run at audiences.

Variety has reported that Harrison Ford himself has joined Gavin (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) Hood’s adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s most famous novel. He joins Hugo‘s Asa Butterfield, Abigail Breslin, Hailee Stansfield, absolute strangers to me like Aramis Knight, Moises Arias, Jimmy “Jax” Pinchak, Suraj Parthasarathy, Conor Carroll and Khylin Rhambo. Sounds like a bunch of young people named by my boneheaded generation.

The Nebula Award winner focuses on a group of young recruits who serve as Earth’s last hope against the bug-like Formic aliens. Ender’s a young fellow who showcases outstanding battle savvy and serves sort of as the Luke Skywalker of the piece. I read the book in the late 80’s and remember liking it, but I must admit that I’m a little worried that the fellow who shat the Wolverine movie on us is writing and directing.

Still, it’s good to see Harrison Ford still sticking to the genre that made him a household name.
