Just caught the new trailer for the Emma Stone comedy, Easy A, which is now over at YouTube.  Got to say it looks pretty good.  Nice to see that there’s still a movie that takes place in a high school that doesn’t immediately make you want to be watching something else, anything else…like the latest BP oil spill footage from the bottom of the sea or something.  The plot concerns Olive Penderghast (Stone), a nobody in high school whose social standing takes a giant leap forward after a little lie about losing her virginity leads her to parallel her life to Hester Prynne from The Scarlet Letter (hence the A), which she’s currently studying in school.

Bert V. Royal scripted the film, and TV vet, Will Gluck (Andy Richter Controls the Universe, Grosse Pointe) directed.  Penn Badgley, Thomas Haden Church, Patricia Clarkson, Cam Gigandet, Lisa Kudrow, Malcolm McDowell, Alyson Michalka and Stanley Tucci co-star.  And this may be one of the last chances you get to see veteran actress Amanda Bynes, who will soon be retiring from acting.
