X-Files 2 has been without an official title for some time, but now the truth is out there: it’s called The X-Files: I Want to Believe. You’re remembering right – that’s the motto on the famous poster hanging in Mulder’s FBI office.

“It’s a natural title,” series creator and film director Chris Carter told the Associated Press. “It’s a story that involves the
difficulties in mediating faith and science. `I Want to Believe.’ It
really does suggest Mulder’s struggle with his faith.”

Now that we know what the title is, maybe we’ll soon find out what the movie is about. There were photos of a werewolf snapped on the set, but supposedly those pictures were part of a deliberate and elaborate disinformation campaign. “We went to almost comical lengths to keep the story a secret,” Carter
said. “That included allowing only the key crew members to read the
script, and they had to read it in a room that had video cameras
trained on them. It was a new experience.”

All that we know is that the film isn’t a mythology story, and probably isn’t about aliens. We should get more info soon – X-Files: I Want to Believe is in theaters at the end of July and I’m surprised we still haven’t seen a trailer. But should I be surprised? It’s seeming like the era of teasers coming out a year early is coming to an end.
