I’ve kept a close eye on Dog Fight as it has accumulated comedians and moved closer to and started production in Louisiana. I’m excited about the potential for a smaller comedy like this starring Zach Galafianakis, who I feel hasn’t really had a chance to shine as a leading comedian in a non-blockbuster comedy. He’ll definitely have a strong cast to bounce off of–one that includes co-star Will Ferrell along with Jason Sudeikis, Dylan McDermott, Brian Cox, and John Lithgow–and will now include one, Mr. Dan Aykroyd.
There isn’t really much of an indication what Aykroyd will actually play in the film, though it’s not difficult to imagine him sporting a suit and a southern accent. Politician, campaign advisor, whatever… he’ll fit right in.
Hopefully this will be a fun move for Aykroyd who, if we’re all being honest, has been mostly in bullshit for the past half decade or so. Really only as good as his surroundings, hopefully we’ll be seeing the best of the great quixotic Ghostbuster.
