In a nice little EW profile on how busy Simon Pegg is of late, the magazine mentions that Pegg hopes to re-team with Edgar Wright and Nick Frost as early as this fall. The project would be The World’s End, the final part of the ‘Blood and Ice Cream’ trilogy, of which Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are the previous two entries. (The ice cream is Cornetto; the blood part should be pretty evident.)

Pegg gives up a tiny bit of detail about the film: “If Shaun of the Dead was about leaving your 30s [shouldn’t that be 20s?] and taking responsibility, and Hot Fuzz was about being a man, then the next one will be about being an old man. Being fucking 40, which I am approaching. Edgar isn’t, the little bastard.”

All of which is very, very lovely, but how the christ is it going to happen this fall? Edgar Wright starts shooting Scott Pilgrim today (look for a couple set photos from that in a minute) and Pegg and Frost are soon going to be doing Paul with Greg Mottola. Even if ‘re-teaming’ just means getting together to finish the script, fall seems way optimistic. I’ll be happy to see it happen whenever it can happen.
