Right around this time every year I start getting that itch for some Saw details. My therapist says that it’s the guilt and shame that I experience every October when I go see a Saw film trying to claw its way out my psyche.

“When I did my sacrifice to keep the franchise alive, I grabbed that little baby just like this and I said, ‘Look, fucker, your death means another Saw film and its going to be the best one yet. Deal with it!”

Can you believe that we’re coming up on the sixth installment of the series and that Special Agent Strahm met his ultimate demise? And just what is that crazy Detective Hoffman going to be up to now? Is he really the sole successor to Jigsaw, forever doomed to carry on a twisted legacy of helping people grow through torture? Is the FBI any closer to discovering the truth, and if so, does Detective Hoffman have a plan that will allow both the FBI and us, the viewers, to fully understand Jigsaw’s grand scheme?!?!? There are too many implications in these questions to be answered in only a few sentences but Shock Till You Drop has the official plot synopsis courtesy of Lionsgate.

Special Agent Strahm is dead, and Detective Hoffman has emerged as the unchallenged successor to Jigsaw’s legacy. However, when the FBI draws closer to Hoffman, he is forced to set a game into motion, and Jigsaw’s grand scheme is finally understood.

Strahm and Hoffman, Hoffman and Strahm– Is there anyone out there who knows what the fuck is going on in this franchise? Whatever happened to Marky Mark’s brother?

Directed by Kevin Greutert, Saw VI is set to be released on October 23, 2009.
