Please, Mr. Barker. Please get these men to be Gladiators in your movie.

There’s been a lot of “Vs.” movies lately. Mostly in the “Nature gone wild” sub-genre with stuff like Boa Vs. Python, MEGA SHARK VS. CROCOSAURUS. It may surprise some people that I haven’t been too crazy about most of these films, and haven’t seen them, save for Boa Vs. Python, and I want to see that one with Tiffany and Debbie Gibson.

We now have an addition to these “Vs.” lists with Gladiators Vs. Zombies.

That title alone will get me to watch this film. I don’t care if it’s really low budget, and only 2 Gladiators fighting the same 5 guys trussed up as “different” zombies. It’s friggin’ GLADIATORS VS. ZOMBIES.

This film is being made by way of Amazon Studios, which is a movie studio that Amazon.com created because they wanted to use audience feedback in the development of movies.

Here’s the short plot synopsis.

“Set in ancient Rome, the ‘Zombies vs. Gladiators’ story begins when a shaman who is about to die in the Coliseum casts a spell that unleashes the world’s first zombies. It’s up to a gladiator to stop the spread of the zombie horde and save Rome.”

Here’s also some choice words from Barker himself that makes me think this may lean towards the sadly canceled HBO series, Rome.

“I’m excited by the opportunity to interweave two very rich narrative threads. One of them concerns itself with the reality of the decadence of Rome and its rise and fall. The other is a fantastical narrative element – the living dead. My brief to myself on this project is to give the audience not only zombies they have never seen before but also a Rome they have never seen before.”

Zombies we’ve never seen before? A Rome we’ve never seen before? From the mind of Clive Barker, I have high expectations.
