The casting ball has been dropped. Christina Ricci has been hired to play the sweet, innocent girlfriend of a regular guy who discovers his parents were porn superstars in the 70s in the Adam Sandler co-written movie Born to Be A Star. How was the ball dropped? Well, the role should have gone to Thora Birch, whose parents actually were in porn. That alone would have made the press junket way more interesting.

In Born to Be A Star the hapless hero leaves his Iowa roots to follow his parents’ example and heads to Hollywood to be a porn star. Sandler co-wrote and is producing the movie, but it’s not a Happy Madison film. It’s being shot indie and will be a negative pick-up by Sony. Tom Brady, who directed The Hot Chick and The Comebacks, is directing this, so expect it to suck more on film than the hero’s mom did.
