Roman Polanski’s adaptation of the dialogue-filled, single-location play Carnage has perhaps been the most successful showing of this entire festival, slaying the audience and boasting some of the best energy of any film this week despite its single location. Polanski guides excellent performances from Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz, Jodie Foster, and John C. Reilly, and he does it with an invisible yet dynamic camera that gets a ton of mileage from a mere room or two in a New York apartment.
Enjoy a few minutes of thoughts above immediately after the theater let out. In this shot, you’re looking at the beautiful auditorium of the Trustees Theater in Savannah, by the way… definitely worth a visit if you’re ever in town.
