http://chud.com/nextraimages/hotelchevalier.jpgOver the weekend I wrote about Hotel Chevalier, the short film that complements Wes Anderson’s new feature, The Darjeeling Express, and how you wouldn’t be seeing the short in theaters. At my press screening Chevalier ran before Darjeeling, and since the two pieces are connected, it really worked. I was concerned that you wouldn’t get a chance to see the short at all, but those fears have turned out to be unfounded; Hotel Chevalier will be debuting next Tuesday at Apple Stores in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago (has ever there been a more annoyingly appropriate synergy than that between Apple and Anderson?), before becoming a free download from iTunes the next day.

Talking to the LA Times, Anderson said that he’d like to attach the short to the feature after the movie has played for a couple of weeks. "We were unsure how this needed to be presented," he said. "We felt they should be connected and searched for how to do that. In the end, I liked the idea that one person could see it in one way, and another could see it in totally another way."
