It’s been a while (actually, only last summer now that I think about it) since we’ve heard any rumblings from Rob Zombie, but yesterday Zombie finally broke his silence and spilled the beans on what’s the haps with his latest creative endeavors.
First off, the buxom beauty (or beast depending on your point of view) known as Tura Satana has jumped on board Zombie’s animated film, The Haunted World of El Superbeasto. Most of you. I’m sure, know Satana best from Russ Meyer’s infamous Faster Pussycat, Kill! Kill! In El Superbeasto she’ll apparently be reprising the character of Varla from the drive-in classic. How that fits into the grand scheme of things, I have no idea, but Rob stated she’ll be in a scene with Otis (Bill Moseley) from The Devil’s Rejects.
Even if it’s only one scene that’s still pretty killer, methinks.
However, still no ETA on when this animated mofo of Zombie’s is going to hit theaters (Sheesh! We’ve been hearing about it since before his remake of Halloween, for the love of Pete!), which kind of sucks because I’m a huge fan of the comics. I’m beginning to wonder if the suits are getting cold feet about the project and don’t have a friggin’ clue how to sell the damned thing. Then again, with Zombie having so many irons in the fire these days his busy schedule may be to blame more than anything.
In case you’re in the dark on The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, said pic revolves around masked Mexican wrestler El Superbeasto and his super sexy swingin’ sister Suzi-X, as they get into all kinds of trouble. Everything from battling the undead to going to war with aliens from another planet. You name it, El Superbeasto gets into it.
Secondly, Zombie’s been back in the recording studio for a while now, and he supposedly has more material written and recorded for the album than he needs. What the tracks are and what the title is I have no idea. Rob wasn’t that forthcoming with all of the info on the album. So if you’re someone who doesn’t give a shit about his movies and you only care about his music (or if you’re like me and enjoy both), fear not; something should be heading your way toward the end of the year at the latest.
In the meantime, how about floating us a release date on The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, Rob? We’ll go see it, if you ever get around to finishing it, of course!
