There’s been a big flurry of casting notices flying out there in the last day or two, so here’s a quick rundown of the more interesting ones to catch us all up:

• CHUD favorite Richard Jenkins has joined A.C.O.D., a comedy starring Adam Scott about a nasty divorce between an older couple and its affect on their grown sons, one of which is getting married. Jenkins will play the father, “whose uncompromising lifestyle and vehement distaste for his ex-wife threatens to destroy the wedding.” It’s from the writer of 50/50, Ben Karlin. [via Deadline]

• So the next pair of dueling flicks (joining the Deep Throat, Snow White, and Oz competitions currently running) will suprrisingly enough be Hitchcock biopics! One will detail the plump director’s studio struggles to get Psycho made, and will star Anthony Hopkins and (likely) Helen Mirren. Appropriately enough, that one’s called Alfred Hitchcock and The Making of Psycho, though surely that will change? Anvil! The Story of Anvil director Sacha Gervasi will direct from a script by John McLuaghlin (Black Swan) and Stephen Rebello, who actually wrote the novel on which the film will be based.

You’ll remember back in 2006 that Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s awards-grabbing turn in Capote greatly overshadowed Toby Jones work in a similarly timed, but much smaller Capote biopic called Infamous. He’d better be ready for that same go around, as he’s also going to be portraying the ole ‘cock, but in an HBO/BBC financed film called The Girl, which follows the making of The Birds. Sienna Miller will join him to play Tippi Hendren, the blondest apple of Hitchcock’s eye at that time. [via Deadline & THR]

• You should know by now that  Sacha Baron Cohen is a true multi-platform talent that can do drama, comedy, and musicals with aplomb, so news that he’s been cast as Thenardier in Les Miserables. He’ll join Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, and Eddie Redmayne in the musical epic from King’s Speech director Tom Hooper. [via Collider]

• Holly Hunter has joined Diablo Cody’s directorial debut, playing the hyper-protective mother of lead Julianne Hough.

I’m sure there will be more cool people joining up with cool projects, so keep your eyes peeled!
