A couple months ago I ran a short list of the projected films to play the Festival de Cannes 2009. Today the full list is available, and it’s a lot like that list of possibilites. That is, incredible. Many of the world’s best filmmakers have a new film to show off this year (too bad Lynch and Cronenberg don’t) and as a result 2009 may end up being a stellar year to rival 2007. Usually we have to wait a lot longer between great years like that.

There are a few notable omissions, like the new flm by Todd Solondz, but by and large the ‘In Competition’ lineup is incredible. Von Trier, Campion, Noe, Tarantino, To, Haneke, Resnais, Almodovar and far more. Park Chan-wook and Tsai Ming-liang? Awesome. Gilliam is out of competition, and Raimi is in the midnight block, but they’re still on the list.

Without further ado (taken from IFC) here’s the full lineup of films in and out of contention.
