Before long Michael Fassbender will be the new center for “six degrees” games as everyone and their cousin’s gaffer is hot to hop onto his projects, and when it’s another of his pairings with Steve McQueen it’s even better. In this case Brad Pitt has decided he will not merely produce McQueen’s next film, 12 Years A Slave, by means of his Plan B productions but will go ahead and slide into a role alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor and Fassbender, his Inglourious Basterds co-star.

While Shame is currently making waves for its strongly adult content and powerhouse performance, I don’t think we’ll be seeing Pitt’s nearly-50-year-old goods in this story about a free African-American man kidnapped and dragged to Louisiana to live a dozen years as a slave.

We still don’t know what role in the story Fassbender and Pitt are taking on, only that Ejiofor will be playing the lead, Solomon Northup. The film doesn’t begin shooting until next year so it will take some more specific casting notices to clue us in anytime soon.
