Good news for my friend Ben David, who couldn’t get tickets to the midnight showing of Star Trek at the Arclight – the movie will now open five hours earlier than expected, meaning he has a chance to buy tickets for a 7pm show on May 7th. Not sure why this was done – except maybe to squeeze in some more showings to inflate the weekend numbers? – but done it is.
And while you’re here thinking about Trek, there’s a new commercial on TV saying ‘This isn’t your father’s Star Trek!’ Which would have been a cool thing to say twenty years ago, when that advertising slogan was in vogue. Maybe they should have come up with a slogan that isn’t your older brother’s slogan. How about: WHERE’S. THE. SPACE. BEEF. [Shots of Nero and Kirk battling]
