Reliable sources tell me that The Last Exorcism, the Eli Roth-produced faux-documentary horror film that Lionsgate yanked out of SXSW after they bought it, is really good. I hope they’re right, because the film’s trailer doesn’t do much for me. We’ve seen found footage movies about monsters and about ghosts and about… well, whatever The Blair Witch Project is about, and now we have one for exorcisms. In the film Cotton Marcus has been parting fools from their money by invoking God for years; now he’s trying to make good, and he’s going to attempt a real exorcism, and to film it.

Things, as expected, go wrong.

Here’s the trailer. The movie is playing the LA Film Festival, and I hope to see it then or before, and I’ll let you know if my reliable sources were right.
