THR is reporting that J Blakeson, director of the excellent The Disappearance of Alice Creed, is set to go to Hell and Gone. The Warner Bros film comes from a script by Jonah Nolan (brother of Christopher and co-writer of The Dark Knight) and is being labeled a “Titanic-like historical tragedy and love story”.

Rather than a boat sinking we’ve got an entire city going up in flames, as the movie will be set during the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, which burned for three days and destroyed four square miles of the city. Hundreds were killed, thousands of buildings demolished, but two people will apparently find love.

I for one welcome a film whose pivotal and action-packed climax is kicked off (quite literally) by a cow.
