MacFarlaneLove it or hate it, Ted was one of the biggest hits of 2012.  One a budget of $50 million, Seth MacFarlane’s directorial debut pulled in almost $546 million worldwide.  A sequel is already in the works, but Ted 2 will not be MacFarlane’s sophomore effort.  Before he lenses his next vulgar teddy bear adventure this fall, Seth will be directing, writing, and starring in A Million Ways To Die In The West.  Co-written with his cohorts Alex Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, the plot of this western comedy is as follows…

Albert (MacFarlane), an incompetent farmer, is dumped by his girlfriend (Amanda Seyfried) when he runs away from a gunfight.  In an effort to win back his lady love, he enlists the wife (Charlize Theron) of a notorious outlaw to teach him how to be a badass.  As Albert begins to develop feelings for the woman, her murderous husband (Liam Neeson) returns to town, causing Albert to finally stand up for himself.  He is aided by his best friend Edward (Giovanni Ribisi), a shoe repairman whose prostitute fiance (Sarah Silverman) will sleep with anyone in the town but Edward himself due to her religious views. *canned laughter*

Scott Stuber and Jason Clark are producing, with Universal expected to distribute.  Production is expected to begin next month, so expect a gaggle of supporting roles and cameos to be filled out by MacFarlane regulars and cult figures.  It’s looking like 2014 will offer up a double-dose of MacFarlane and his particularly brand of comedy, so prepare to either rejoice or brace yourself for impact depending on your opinion of the man’s work.
