You can’t always tell much about a movie from the trailer. You can tell even less from the teaser. But that doesn’t stop most of us from leaping to conclusions when we see one, and I have to say that if the teaser for Underdog is representative of the tone and attitude of the actual film… well, maybe this is something I could stomach after all.
The live action version of the beloved costumed canine cartoon character (and sadly missed Thanksgiving parade balloon) uses a real dog instead of creating a CGI one, and even weirder than that, it has the dog speaking with Jason Lee’s voice. But the teaser shows a wonderful sense of humor about the whole superhero genre, especially with the opening narration being an on the nose riff on Superman.
