The Cabin in the Woods.
Let’s forget how long this film has been delayed (mostly due to the sale of MGM but also because the film was converted to 3-D. Or has it been? There’s no mention of 3-D on the official site. All that matters is that Drew Goddard’s film is finally coming in March of 2012. We think. We’ve been covering this seemingly since we lived in log cabins but there’s a few things to remember:
- Former CHUD fellow Devin Faraci visited the post-production office years ago and some of cool monsters, great visual sense, and having read the script and liked it felt the movie had potential.
- Bradley Whitford amd Richard Jenkins are in it. So is Keith David.
- And so is a pre-Thor Chris Hemsworth.
- Joss Whedon’s heavily involved. Your personal baggage regarding the man factors in of course.
- It’s for all intents and purposes an old school horror flick.
Now, the one sheet (per AICN) has arrived and I love it to death, at least on a visual level. It’s a magnificent blend of Escher and Rubik. What does it mean? Is Goddard’s movie a bizarre mindfuck? The Cabin of Leaves? Is the cabin basically the ship from Event Horizon?
Who knows. Bottom line is that in March we’ll get to finally lose the blue balls on this flick. Which may be in 3-D. Or not.
