Fellow Angelenos:

We’re going to be dropping some bits of news from both CHUD and GUY over the next few days about some upcoming screenings from our old (actually new) drinking buddies, Bigfoot Entertainment, and their swank theatre, The Crest, over near Westwood.  Word has it, some slob named Nunziata might actually be at one of them.  A definite slob named Oliver will try to make a couple as well.

The first one we wanted to let you know about is for Whisperer in the Darkness, a new film from writer/director Sean Branney, based on the H.P. Lovecraft short story that was first published in Weird Tales in 1931.  It stars Stephen Blackehart, Barry Lynch, Matt Lagan, Conor Timmis, Casey Kramer, Lance J. Holt, Andrew Leman, Annie Abrams, Matt Foyer, Joe Sofranko, Sean Branney, Zack Gold, John Jabaley, Autumn Wendel and Mike Dalager.  Branney previously wrote and appeared in another Lovecraft film, The Call of Chthulu in 2005.  Whisperer in the Darkness is set in 1931 and features a cameo by Charles Hoy Fort.  The synopsis:

Skeptical folklore professor Albert Wilmarth (Matt Foyer) discovers a century-old manuscript describing weird creatures and demonic rituals in the remote Vermont hills – setting off a chain of events that will lead him deep into the mountains and to the very edge of madness as he confronts the true purpose of these shadowy visitors from the dark edges of the universe.

Afterwards, there will be a discussion with Sean Branney, producer, co-writer and production designer Andrew Leman; producer, cinematographer and editor David Robertson, and other cast & crew.
