Harry Knowles has a very fascinating review of Uwe Boll’s BloodRayne up at Aint it Cool. It’s not fascinating because of the movie or the review itself, but because Harry saw the movie with Dr. Boll in attendance, and had a chance to hang out with him afterwards. Boll actually talked shit on Spielberg’s War of the Worlds, which is pretty amazing to me. Not only is the guy a shitty filmmaker, he has the balls to attack other filmmakers. It’s enough to make you wonder if he thinks he’s making good films.
Boll is, of course, wrapping up his latest video game film, Dungeon Siege, and is about to move on to yet another video game adaptation. I wonder if he got pissed off that he didn’t do Doom. Anyway, the next film from Dr. Boll will be a big screen version of the game Postal, a socially reprehensible shoot-em-up that I always thought was more publicity generator than an actual game.
The best part of the announcement, by the way, is the fact that Gary Coleman will be in the film, playing himself. Celebrity metaculture is moments away from eating its own tale, Oruborous-style, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s like the real world has gotten in on the snark, and that means that I will soon be able to retire from the saying nasty things about movies business and settle down to do my true love, subsistence farming.
