Ryan Gosling, most recently of Blue Valentine fame but who will always be Noah to the ladies, is in talks to star opposite Johnny Depp in Gore Verbinski’s big-screen version of The Lone Ranger.
The problem, of course, is that the Bruckheimer-produced Ranger is scheduled to start shooting this fall, the same time as the Nicolas Winding Refn-helmed remake of Logan’s Run, in which Gosling is starring, is also slated to begin production. It seems like Gosling’s interested in the part and the only thing standing in the way is the scheduling conflicts.
And while Depp has expressed interest in the past in having guys like Pitt or Clooney don the black mask, Gosling is indeed a pretty good choice. The man can act act and, while I can’t say with any great enthusiasm that the movie was great, Gosling’s ability to build some real chemistry with a mannequin in Lars and the Real Girl only bodes incredibly well for his ability to play off someone as wildly charismatic as Depp. Especially when it’s for someone like Verbinski, who helped bring Captain Jack Sparrow into the world. Everything’s still in the talking stages at the moment, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
