The movie version of Speed Racer is far from dead, and Vince Vaughn is still attached, a scooper tells Corona Coming Attractions at Cinescape.
The movie, based on the Japanese racing cartoon, seemed sort of in limbo for some time – we’ve been reporting on it for something like five years now – but the scooper says that the script is due to be handed in this week, and that Vaughn will still be playing Racer X, the brother who Speed Racer thinks is dead.
The film will feature four major races, each ready made for video games (oh good. As long as the filmmakers are going for the purer impulses here), and the ending will be left wide open for a sequel.
