I caught the trailer for Zach Ryder’s upcoming Sucker Punch this past weekend and was like, “Hey, it’s 300 on acid…with cans.” Just to hammer home that concept, Warner Bros. has just released five new character banners showcasing the five ladies of the piece. Featured in the artwork are Emily Browning as Baby Doll, Abbie Cornish as Sweet Pea, Jena Malone as Rocket, Vanessa Hudgens as Blondie, and Jamie Chung as Amber. Kind of a crime that there’s no Guginobanner, but these ain’t bad. As you may have discerned, the story is an ensemble piece and centers on a young girl named Baby Doll incarcerated in an asylum, who’s about to be lobotomized. Warner Bros. has the official synopsis as an epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, and her incredible adventures blur the lines between what’s real and what is imaginary.
Steve Shibuya wrote the screenplay with Snyder, who also produced it with wife, Deborah Snyder. Jon Hamm, Scott Glenn, and Michael Jai White co-star. I was late to the party on Watchmen, but I definitely won’t be on this. Sucker Punch opens on March 25th. You can click on the images below to ensuckerize.
