Teen cutie Camilla Belle has signed on to star in the remake of When a Stranger Calls, a horror film about the dangers of pre-Caller ID life. The original 70s semi-classic starred Carol Kane as a baby sitter who gets threatening phone calls – that are coming from inside the house!
Belle will be taking on the Kane role but probably not the speech impediment. Belle was last seen in The Ballad of Jack and Rose, where she plays Danile Day Lewis’ daughter and also makes out with him. Cuhreepy! She’ll next be seen in Chumbscrubber.
Simon West was released from movie jail on his own recognizance to direct this film, which is expected to start in July. If this film doesn’t violate his parole, West will next direct a racing film called RPM.
