A former roadie turned filmmaker who was responsible for one of the greatest documentaries of the last few years isĀ apparently circling that long-gestating Alfred Hitchcock biopic. 24 Frames is reporting that Sacha Gervasi (writer of The Terminal and director of Anvil! The Story of Anvil) is reportedly in talks with Ivan Reitman’s Montecito Pictures to write and direct Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho.
The 1990 book of the same name was lauded even by Anthony Perkins for its meticulous research and it’s been almost as long that a film has tried to get off the ground, most recently with Black Swan scribe John McLaughlin taking a wack at it. Gervasi is a great guy (I know) that managed to find the heart of a metal band, of all things, so surely he can find it in the dry wit of one of cinema’s greatest directors.
Exciting news, indeed.
