All around awesome director Darren Aronofsky is hard at work with The Wolverine in active development. However, he’s been associated with the comic book world for well on a decade. As well as publishing The Fountain in funny book form, he was also attached to the Batman franchise in the chasm of darkness between Batman & Robin and Batman Begins. According to a new article from ClothesonFilm.com, though, his work with the Caped Crusader may not yet be concluded.
In an article on the site discussing Black Swan and his working process, Aronofsky dropped some details on his potential work within the inked medium:
CoF:…Do you ever feel like realising your vision of something like the Batman story that you were working on as a comic book?
DA: Well, we’re actually doing one. It hasn’t really been announced, I don’t know if I should give you the scoop! But we’re getting there. We’re doing a comic book of a script that’s really hard to make and we’re going to do a comic version first and see what happens…
While it’s not anything definite or if we’ll even see it in any form, it is an indication that he’s at the very least not done with the Dark Knight. I am excited to see Aronofsky give his touch on anything, so I really hope that the project makes it into my hands at some point. The man is a tremendous talent, as evidenced from my one viewing of Requiem for a Dream when I was 13 and not being able to shake the imagery in it to this day. Let’s hope Aronofsky amputates Robin’s arm at some point in the book.
