While it’s been a long time coming, the PS3 faithful are about to find out what the big deal with Mass Effect 2 is. My favorite game from last year is looking just as great on the PS3, and EA and Bioware have released this new launch trailer to get you excited.
To make up for the delay the game will come bundled with all of the DLC packs that Xbox 360 and PC gamers had to pay digital cash for- Lair of the Shadow Broker, Overlord and Kasumi – Stolen Memory, as well as the Blood Dragon Armor that was available to those who picked up Dragon Age.
Of course, since the original Mass Effect was never released for PS3, aren’t gamers missing out on one of the coolest aspects of the game, allowing your unique character to shape and evolve and even determine the events of the second game? Well, yeah. Bioware knows this, however, and as a workaround they’ve announced an interactive comic based on the series.
Titled Mass Effect: Genesis, it will be available over the Cerberus Network (the in-game network that shows you available DLC) and allow gamers to see the events of the first game and make critical choices that will change the storyline for Mass Effect 2 and 3. This will also be made available for Xbox 360 and PC owners as well and certainly seems like a nice idea for anyone wishing to start up a new character without wasting hours of their lives waiting on elevators and driving across barren moons in the first game.
Mass Effect 2 hits the PS3 on January 18th not only in retail but also via the Playstation Network. Just make sure you have lots of hard drive space and time if you want to go that route as it’s a hefty 18 gigs, and we all know how long it takes to download and install anything on the PS3.
Either way you go at it though, don’t let it pass you by! You’ve only got till the end of the year to be ready for Mass Effect 3, after all.
