While Kris Kristofferson already exists in 3D, further proof of this is only a year away.
Called Dolphin Tale, it’s “based on true events about a dolphin that loses her tail in a crab trap, and an 11-year-old boy who persuades a doctor to create a prosthetic attachment to restore the dolphin’s ability to swim “. That quote is from Variety: amazing.
Harry Connick Jr. is also in the movie, playing the head of an aquarium and likely the father of the boy, while Kristofferson will be Connick’s dad.
Dolphin Tale, to be directed by Charles Martin Smith, is being produced by Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson – the men behind Alcon Entertainment and the same ones who produced My Dog Skip. They have an exclusive distribution agreement with Warner Bros., who have already scheduled the film for release on September 16th, 2011.
This will be the first foray into the world of 3D for Alcon Entertainment, who are best known for recent films like The Blind Side and The Book of Eli.
