The 65th annual Australian International Movie Convention is currently going on Down Under and some movie posters have emerged online over at Encore. These include the upcoming The Thing prequel, Sanctum, and some other films: Griff the Invisible, Tomorrow, When The War Began, and The Loved Ones. Sanctum is a 3D action thriller executive produced by James Cameron and starring Richard Roxburgh, Ioan Gruffudd, Alice Parkinson and Ryan Wakefield as cave divers who become trapped in a cave system during a storm and must fight their harsh environment and their own panic to find a way out.
Griff The Invisible is directed by Leon Ford and centers on Griff, office worker by day, superhero by night, [who] has his world turned
upside down when he meets Melody, a beautiful young scientist who
shares his passion for the impossible. (via IMDB). It stars Ryan Kwanten and Maeve Dermody. The Loved Ones is by director Sean Byrne, stars Xavier Samuel and Robin Mcleavy and has the following tagline:When Brent turns down his classmate Lola’s invitation to the prom, she concocts a wildly violent plan for revenge. (via IMDB).
Tomorrow, When The War Began is from writer Stuart Beattie in his directorial debut. It stars Caitlin Stasey, Rachel Hurd-Wood, Lincoln Lewis, Deniz Akdeniz, Phoebe Tonkin, Chris Pang and Ashleigh Cummings and sounds an awful like Red Dawn: Australia: Based on the first of seven books by acclaimed Australian author, John
Marsden, Tomorrow When The War Began is the story of seven teenagers
who return from a week-long camping trip to find that Australia has
been invaded by a foreign power. (via IMDB)
I have to say, I really hope that that Thing poster is just a teaser, because the film already has a lot (i.e. a LOT) to live up to without it’s poster totally being owned by its predecessor right out of the gate.
