In what is sure to be many instances of the creative team behind the
Breaking Dawn films slowly but deliberately making no promises and
controlling expectations of how much of the unbelievable madness of
Twilight: Breaking Dawn will make it from the novel into the PG-13 film,
here’s the screenwriter dashing our hopes for an explicit scene of
dentally-assisted child birth…
“On
the fan site, on Facebook,
all the comments are “It has to be R rated! You have to show the
childbirth!
Gore and guts and sex!” For me it’s actually more
interesting to
not see it. You know, you can do childbirth without
seeing
childbirth … it doesn’t mean it’s any less evocative of an
experience.”
Sure. Right.
We still have the possibilities of
furniture-destructive vampire sex, abortion discussions, pleas for Jacob
to knock up Bella from Edward, spinal injuries, and a
telepathic/sentient baby, though every one of those elements are likely
to be removed or dragged towards a more palatable sanity.
What
a shame.
