The Logan’s Run remake looks to move forward with a new director, Carl Rinsch, says THR.com’s Heat Vision. The project has been in development for some time, but had stalled under Bryan Singer. Other directors previously associated with the remake included Robert Schwenke, James McTeigue and Tron Legacy’s Joseph Kosinski.
The original 1976 adaptation of the 1967 novel by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson starred Michael
York, Jenny Agutter and Farrah Fawcett. The premise sees
a future society that demands the death of everyone upon reaching a
certain age. Anyone who veers from that destiny is dubbed a “runner”
and is hunted by operatives known as Sandmen. Logan is a Sandman who is
forced to go on the run.
Carl Rinsch is a big name in the commercial directing arena. He had previously been set to direct the upcoming Alien prequel before stepping aside so Sir Ridley could return the the franchise. He’s also attached to 47 Ronin over at Universal. A new writer is pending and to date, there’s no casting info.
