This has got to be a mistake in the math somewhere. The Empire Strikes Back is 30 years old. Wait, then that makes me…(oh crap). Anyway, THR.com had a piece on some activities that are being done to commemorate the anniversary of the best piece of the entire voluminous Star Wars universe ever. This includes having Chewbacca throwing out the first pitch at tonight’s Dodgers game, and the first 20,000 fans get a special commemorative poster, some will get
Boba-Fett t-shirts, Star Wars characters will be milling about and
more.
Also, George Lucas kicked off a yearlong charity drive titled The Empire Gives Back earlier this week with a screening that oversold and had Ewan McGregor, Peter Mayhew and, yes, Harrison Ford, who did a Q&A (Syfy has the breakdown on that here), in attendance. Hasbro is also coming out with a brand new line of toys come August, including the AT-AT posted in the source article. On a personal note, that makes me recall probably the best birthday ever: when my mother somehow managed to put together the money to take me into Toys ‘R Us and we walked out with a Snow Speeder, a TIE Fighter and X-Wing.
So anyway, celebrate the moment with the old school Empire Strikes Back trailer:
