The big news here, supposedly, is that Liev Schreiber has read the script for Wolverine 2 and likes it. But since he read the script for Wolverine and apparently liked that I don’t know how psyched this should make us feel.
But what I thought was really telling is that despite having read the script, Schreiber has no idea whether or not he’s in the movie. Check out this quote from io9, who was at the press conference for Repo Men where Schreiber dropped the bombshell:
I just had dinner with [Hugh Jackman] last night and read the first draft of the script and I was really excited about it. It’s still not clear whether or not Victor will be present in the Japan storyline. In the Japan storyline as I remember it from the Wolverine comics, Victor wasn’t there. So I don’t know, of course I’ve got my fingers crossed because I love the character so much, to have the chance to do it again would be a lot of fun, but I’m not sure.
Bold is mine.
Is this a case of someone mishearing what Schreiber said? Is it possible that Jackman read the first draft and was excited? I mean, you would think that if a guy read a script he would know whether or not his own character appears in it.

UPDATE: Just as I thought, the statement didn’t make any sense. Ace reporter Cyriaque Lamar totally fucked up the quote from Schreiber – Jackman has read the script and is excited. That’s not even news.
