Here’s a damn cool bit of news: Steven Soderbergh is working on a movie called Contagion, which will weave multiple storylines together – a la Traffic (or
any of the Irwin Allen disaster movies, honestly) – during an outbreak
of a deadly virus. And it’s going to star Matt Damon, Marion Cotillard,
Jude Law and Kate Winslet.
Yes, please, thank you!
Just a couple of months ago we were hearing that post-Che Soderbergh
was thinking about retiring, but it seems that he’s found a new lease
on his creative life – or at least the having fun side of his creative
life. The Informant! was
a blast, and Soderbergh’s finishing up an action-thriller that’s all
about kick boxing, and now he’s got a movie that sounds like it could
shape up to be the first few chapters of The Stand done right.
Soderbergh is planning to shoot Contagion, based on a script by The Informant! writer Scott Z Burns, later this year. There’s no studio attached at the moment.
