Did you know there was a sequel in the works to Seven, but it never came together? Maybe I’ll feature it in a future Movies That Never Were column.
In the meantime, three of the most important players from Seven are reuniting for a brand new film: David Fincher, screenwriter Andrew Kevin Walker and producer Alison Rosenzweig are getting back together to adapt The Reincarnation of Peter Proud at Columbia. Is this the second film in Fincher’s Alliterative Names Trilogy? Maybe he’ll make Superman’s Girlfriend Lois Lane after this.
Peter Proud is a book (out of print!) that was previously made into a movie by J Lee Thompson, director of Conquest of and Battle for the Planet of the Apes, so you know he’s my boy. The Margot Kidder-starring film is not available on DVD, making a new version of The Reincarnation of Peter Proud positively fucking esoteric.
The basic plot of the book/movie is that Peter Proud is a dude who begins having visions of his past life, and then begins thinking that he may have been murdered. Audrey Rose meets DOA, essentially.
The new version will be going back to the book (that’s what they always say, mind you), and will be next for Fincher after he finishes The Social Network.

Figure out of Fincher keeps the incest subplot on our message boards.
